Common questions
Straight answers to what clients usually ask about this service.
When do I pay Corporation Tax?
For most companies, payment is due 9 months and 1 day after the end of the accounting period. That is earlier than the deadline for the return itself, which is 12 months after the period end. Paying late means interest from the due date.
Do I need to file a return if the company made a loss?
In general, yes. If HMRC has issued a notice to deliver a return, you must file it even when there is no tax to pay. Filing also lets a loss be carried forward or back where the rules allow.
How do I register a new company for Corporation Tax?
Companies House passes the company's details to HMRC, but you still need to register for Corporation Tax online within 3 months of starting business activity. We can handle the registration and the first accounting period.
